This bank-code directory gives readers one verified starting point for major Nigerian banks, including Access, GTBank, FirstBank, UBA, Zenith, Fidelity, Sterling, Wema, Unity, Ecobank, Polaris, Keystone, Stanbic IBTC and Jaiz. Each table row links to a full practical bank profile instead of pretending every service uses one universal option sequence. The guide explains registration, registered-SIM requirements, transfer confirmation, changing charges
Use the main menu code from the phone number registered with the account. Direct transfer strings should be used only when the bank currently publishes them.

Do this in order
- Find the bank in the table and open its detailed profile where available.
- Verify the main code against the bank’s official page before a sensitive or high-value action.
- Dial from the SIM registered with that account.
- Choose the live menu option instead of assuming an old option number.
- Confirm beneficiary, amount, biller or phone number before entering the PIN.
- Save the bank message or transaction reference.
Expected result
The bank should display its own menu, registration prompt or service result. If a different organisation appears, cancel and recheck the code and selected SIM.
When that route fails
Use the bank’s official app, internet banking, ATM, branch or contact centre. Do not replace an unavailable bank code with a number suggested by an unknown social-media helper.
Quick answer
There is no single USSD code for every Nigerian bank. Each bank has its own main entry, such as Access *901#, GTBank *737#, FirstBank *894#, UBA *919# and Zenith *966#. The directory above links the bank name to the correct starting point, while the live bank screen controls the current menu.
Why this list uses main entry codes
A main menu is easier to verify than dozens of direct strings. It also lets the bank change option order without making every instruction unsafe. Direct codes can be convenient, but one misplaced amount or account field can create a transaction the user did not intend.
This directory separates each bank’s verified main entry point from direct shortcuts that may change. Provider profile links help readers confirm the current route before completing a sensitive action.
How to recognise the correct bank menu
The first screen should identify the bank or its named service, such as 737, Magic Banking or EazyBanking. It may ask a new user to register. Cancel if the screen asks for unrelated information, opens another provider or instructs you to call a personal number.
A banking session can request account verification and a transaction PIN. It should not require you to tell a remote helper the PIN, OTP or password. You should start the session yourself.
Use one calm transfer routine across banks
Choose Transfer, select same bank or another bank, enter the account number and amount, then wait for the beneficiary name. Compare that name with the person or invoice. Cancel on a mismatch. Read the fee and total debit before authorising.
After a timeout, check account history before repeating. After debit without value, save the reference and report through the sending bank. A receiving bank cannot normally trace a sender’s complaint without the sending institution’s case.
Registration and the linked phone number
Most bank USSD services depend on the phone number held on the account. Some banks ask for debit-card digits, date of birth, account number or another identity check during enrolment. Requirements vary. Complete them only inside the official session or bank channel.
If the number has changed, follow the bank’s update process. Buying a new SIM with the same network does not automatically update the bank record, and a ported number can still need bank verification.
Charges and limits belong to the bank’s current terms
Session fees, transfer charges and limits can depend on the bank, transaction amount, account tier, channel and identity level. This directory does not attach one permanent number to every bank. The confirmation screen and official pricing page are the right places to check.
Be suspicious of a page that promises a larger limit or fee waiver after paying an agent. Limit changes should happen through official bank controls and may require stronger verification.
Retired and changed services
A bank can merge, change ownership, retire a channel or lose its licence. Heritage Bank’s former USSD service should not be treated as active. Users with historical claims should follow the official regulator, liquidator or successor information rather than dialling a retired transaction code.
Report a directory error through our Support page with an official source. The editorial team reviews the provider page before changing a code.
Three bank-code search examples
The following examples explain three bank-code search examples and show how the guidance applies in different situations.
1. Searching United Bank for Africa
The directory treats the full name and UBA as the same bank and points to *919# plus the dedicated UBA profile.
2. Two bank accounts on one phone number
Dial the code for the bank you intend to use. The bank menu may then ask which account to debit if several accounts are linked.
3. A code opens but transfer is unavailable
Check registration, linked SIM, signal and maintenance notices. Move to the official app or branch instead of trying a random direct string.
Official sources for this guide
Each dedicated bank profile links to the official provider page used to confirm its main entry code. The directory uses current bank and regulator sources listed below.
Use the directory as a starting point
Find the bank, verify the main entry and let the live menu guide the current task. Confirm every money detail before PIN entry and keep the transaction result. The official bank remains the final source for limits, charges and account-specific eligibility.
